Celebrate: Special Events in 2021
Special events will be held over the course of 2021 to engage our community, celebrate our association’s centennial, and launch into our next 100 years.
Additional events and details will be added as available, but here are some dates to save:
Founders’ Day – Locations TBA
January 15, 2021
We are hopeful that multiple APTA chapters will host celebrations to honor the founding of our association. APTA will also host a celebration at Keens Steakhouse in New York, where the association was founded on January 15, 1921. Attendance at Keens will be limited and invitation-only due to space constraints, but information on state and regional events will be provided here as it is available.
PT is Universal Party at Combined Sections Meeting – Orlando, Florida
February 24-27, 2021 (Cancelled)
This event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic (click here to read more). We’re working on virtual alternatives to celebrate APTA’s centennial during our virtual CSM. We will update this page when more information is available.
Centennial Gala Weekend – Washington, DC
September 10-14, 2021
Multiple events will be held in our nation’s capital in September:
- Centennial Gala, September 10, 2021 (Friday)
This ticketed celebration will be held at the historic Washington National Cathedral.
- House of Delegates, September 11-12, 2021 (Saturday and Sunday)
APTA’s annual meeting of the House of Delegates, which has been held in June in recent years, will conduct its business in September of our centennial with a shorter 2-day schedule.
- Future of Physical Therapy Summit, September 13, 2021 (Monday)
Details to be announced.
- Additional programming and events to be announced.
Notes: The above September events are between the 2021 Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah (sundown of September 6 through nightfall of September 8) and Yom Kippur (sundown of September 15 through nightfall of September 16). Also, the 20th anniversary of 9/11 will occur in 2021. We plan to recognize that day and will explore options for members to participate in nearby remembrance events.
