Special events are approaching in September, and the APTA Centennial Lecture Series is ongoing with in-person and virtual options.

APTA Centennial Celebration – Washington, DC
Sept. 10-14, 2021

Multiple events will be held in our nation’s capital in September. At this time, we are planning for in-person events with full capacity. Events will be consistent with CDC, state, and venue guidance and restrictions. Please note that many of these events are invitation only. Visit our housing site to book a room. Friday, September 10

  • Open House at APTA Centennial Center
    APTA Centennial Center – Alexandria, Virginia
    8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. (come anytime)
    No ticket or fee required. Attire is professional.
    Visit our new national headquarters.
  • John H.P. Maley Lecture by Tim Flynn
    APTA Centennial Center – Alexandria, Virginia
    11 a.m.-Noon
    No ticket or fee required. Seating is limited. Attire is professional. This event will be livestreamed.
    Attend the 26th John H.P. Maley Lecture during our Open House. This lecture will be held at the Paris/Patla Conference Center on the 7th floor of APTA Centennial Center. Seating is limited.
  • Presidents Forum
    APTA Centennial Center – Alexandria, Virginia
    1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
    No ticket or fee required. Seating is limited. Attire is professional. This event will be livestreamed.
    APTA President Sharon L. Dunn will share the stage with past association presidents to discuss the past, present, and future of our association and profession. This panel discussion will be held at the Paris/Patla Conference Center on the 7th floor of APTA Centennial Center. Seating is limited.
  • PTA Caucus Annual Meeting
    Omni Shoreham – Washington, D.C.
    10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    The annual meeting of PTA Caucus delegates and state representatives who are in town for the House of Delegates will occur Friday. Participants can attend APTA’s Open House at APTA Centennial Center prior or after the meeting.
  • Centennial Gala
    Washington National Cathedral – Washington, D.C.
    6:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.
    Ticket required. Invitation-only via table hosts at this time. Attire is formal (black tie optional).
    Table hosts will invite their guests directly for the Centennial Gala – a night of dinner, dancing, and celebration. No individual ticket sales are available at this time. APTA will keep a wait list in the event limited seats become available.

Saturday, September 11

  • House of Delegates, Day 1 of 2
    Omni Shoreham – Washington, D.C.
    8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    The annual meeting of APTA’s House of Delegates begins Saturday. Gallery seating for non-participants is limited. This event will be livestreamed.
  • Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff and ECC 9/11 Memorial 5K
    Arlington, Virginia
    6:00 p.m.
    $35 if you register by June 5; $40 to register after June 5
    Beginning at the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington, about 2.5 miles north of APTA’s new headquarters, this event benefits official charities that focus on the healing of military personnel and civilians directly affected by the war on terrorism and the attacks against America on September 11, 2001. A ‘virtual’ race option is also available for those who are unable to join in person. To participate, register via the race provider: select “Join a Team” and select “APTA” from the teams list.

    The annual meeting of APTA’s House of Delegates concludes Sunday. Gallery seating for non-participants is limited. This event will be livestreamed for APTA members.
  • APTA Centennial Scholars Meeting

    9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
    This in-person meeting of the scholars and mentors will occur Sunday.
  • Honors & Awards Reception hosted by the Catherine Worthingham Fellows
    Omni Shoreham – Washington, D.C.
    3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
    No ticket or fee required.
    Prior to the Honors & Awards Ceremony at the Kennedy Center, join your peers for a casual reception hosted by the Catherine Worthingham Fellows.
  • Mary McMillan Lecture by Colleen Kigin and Honors & Awards Ceremony
    John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts – Washington, D.C.
    6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
