Celebrate: Special Events in 2021

Special events will be held over the course of 2021 to engage our community, celebrate our association’s centennial, and launch into our next 100 years.

Additional events and details will be added as available, but here are some dates to save:

APTA Founders’ Day Celebration
Jan. 15, 2021 – 8 p.m. ET

Join us as we celebrate our 100th birthday with a free livestream event on APTA’s social media channels.

APTA Founders’ Day Weekend Lectures
Jan. 16-17, 2021

This special weekend of programming will include the 51st Mary McMillan lecture by Stuart Binder-Macleod, PT, PhD, FAPTA.

This event will be $99, or free to registrants of the 2021 Combined Sections Meeting. Registration to open in late November.

PT is Universal Party at Combined Sections Meeting – Orlando, Florida
Feb. 24-27, 2021 (Cancelled)

Centennial Gala Weekend – Washington, DC
Sept. 10-14, 2021

Multiple events will be held in our nation’s capital in September:

  • Centennial Gala, Sept. 10, 2021 (Friday)
    This ticketed celebration will be held at the historic Washington National Cathedral.
  • House of Delegates, Sept. 11-12, 2021 (Saturday and Sunday)
    APTA’s annual meeting of the House of Delegates, which has been held in June in recent years, will conduct its business in September of our centennial with a shorter 2-day schedule.
  • Future of Physical Therapy Summit, Sept. 13, 2021 (Monday)
    Details to be announced.
  • Additional programming and events to be announced.

Notes: The above September events are between the 2021 Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah (sundown of September 6 through nightfall of September 8) and Yom Kippur (sundown of September 15 through nightfall of September 16). Also, the 20th anniversary of 9/11 will occur in 2021. We plan to recognize that day and will explore options for members to participate in nearby remembrance events.

APTA Centennial Lecture Series

As the trusted leader of the physical therapy profession, we are proud to announce the APTA Centennial Lecture Series. This continuing education series features recognized leaders on topics in clinical practice, practice management, payment, and innovation.

All courses will be held at our new headquarters, APTA Centennial Center, in Alexandria, Virginia. Pricing, CEU information, lodging, and registration information to come.
