DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special weekend of programming\, including the 51st Mary McMillan lecture by Stuart Binder-Macleod\, PT\, PhD\, FAPTA. \nRegister for APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting by Jan. 15 to get free access to this special centennial-year event\, or purchase invidually via the APTA CSM registration platform for $99. \nRegister Now \nSaturday\, January 16: 7 p.m. ET\n\n\n\nWhat I Know: The Value of Mentoring and Leadership\nThe 51st Mary McMillan Lecture will be delivered by Stuart Binder-Macleod\, PT\, PhD\, who will discuss the critical role that mentoring has played in his professional development and the important role we each can play in mentoring the next generation of physical therapy clinicians\, researchers\, and administrators. \nHe also will outline his current and prior leadership positions within and outside of our profession\, and he will discuss the urgent need for members of our profession to take on leadership positions that match their skills and interests throughout their careers. \nThis event will begin at 7 p.m. ET with the broadcast of Binder-Macleod’s lecture\, to be immediately followed by live Q&A\, featuring questions from viewers. \nSunday\, January 17: 7 p.m. ET\n\n\n\nMeeting Challenges and Optimizing Ability to Respond: New Opportunities for Physical Therapy Research\nAlison Cernich\, PhD\, deputy director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development\, will provide an overview of the National Institutes of Health’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lessons learned that may be carried forward. \nThroughout the presentation\, Cernich will emphasize the impact of health disparities and the need to recognize the impact of race\, ethnicity\, gender\, and social determinants of health. She also will outline the progress on the revision of the NIH Rehabilitation Research Plan and highlight opportunities for physical therapy research. \nThis event will begin at 7 p.m. ET with the broadcast of Cernich’s lecture\, to be immediately followed by live Q&A\, featuring questions from viewers.
