Engage: Ways to Get Involved in Our Centennial
Our centennial provides a special opportunity for members to engage and propel our association into its next 100 years.
Here are a few things we’re doing to honor this milestone and prepare for the future.
APTA Campaign for Future Generations: To support APTA’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we have created a two-year Campaign for Future Generations that will conclude at the end of 2021. Net proceeds from our centennial activities will support this campaign, but we are also accepting individual donations. The first 10,000 people to donate at least $10 toward this campaign will have their name included on our community wall, an artistic installation on the first floor of our new headquarters. Learn more and donate now!
PT Is Universal: APTA’s 100th Birthday Bash at Universal Studios: Our centennial year will include multiple ceremonies and celebrations, but none are bigger than our party at Universal Studios in Orlando during Combined Sections Meeting 2021. Tickets will be sold for $25 each, with CSM attendees receiving the first opportunity to purchase tickets when CSM 2021 registration opens in August or September 2020. See our Celebrate page for more details on this and other centennial events.
APTA Centennial Lecture Series: From March through October 2021, APTA will host a series of continuing education courses at our new headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. See the Celebrate page for more details.
APTA Centennial Scholars Program: In 2021, APTA will hold a 12-month program to help build a cadre of future association leaders at both the component and national levels to support our collective quest for a diverse and prepared leadership pool. APTA chapters and sections will sponsor the 100 scholars, who will be paired with mentors and participate in virtual learning and three in-person events, while working on capstone projects to benefit their sponsors. APTA chapters and sections may use any criteria they wish to select an APTA member who they want to prepare to be a future association leader. Components should now be actively recruiting their scholars; the deadline to submit a scholar to APTA is September 1. The application to be a Mentor in the program is also open via APTA Engage. The deadline to submit a mentor application is August 15. For more information contact Allyson Pahmer at email@example.com or 703-706-8554.
Celebrating History: Take some time to browse our 100 milestones of physical therapy from APTA’s first 100 years. But also share your perspective: If you have photos, artifacts, or stories you would like to share, contact us.
Centennial Merchandise: Get ready to celebrate with official APTA centennial gear! Net proceeds benefit the APTA Campaign for Future Generations to support efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion.
